Poortje offers the ideal holiday destination for families wanting a rustic but relaxing break away from the norm. Poortje Game Farm boasts with offering guests accommodation in three beautiful stone cottages as well as two rustic wood cabins tucked away in the small hills of the Free State hills.
The cottages and cabins are surrounded by ancient rock walls and kraals shaped by our South African warfare history. Several species of game traverse the farm and gather in the idyllic valley and whose run off water leads straight into the passing Vaal River.
Because of the intimate setting of these cottages and cabins, Poortje is particularly suited for accommodating groups of family and friends for special events or simply a weekend together.

Although, Poortje offers very comfortable and inviting accommodation to all its visitors, the following is again brought to the guests’ attention, to ensure that all parties are satisfied with the booking:
1) Poortje utilizes solar-energy for lighting purposes, thus it has no supply of 220Volt electricity.
2) A 10km good conditioned gravel road has to be followed to reach the accommodation. All cars should be able to navigate this road, although caution should be given for lower vehicles.

We were extremely happy to discover this little piece of great quietness. What a good surprise to be welcomed by the springboks! The installation is simple but more than enough with a lot of cooking equipment available. Will definitely recommend to my friends!

My husband and I started our Honeymoon at Poortjie Game Farm. We were pleasantly surprised at how clean and well equipped the unit was. It was overall just an absolute great start to our Honeymoon and we have decided that we will definitely be visiting Poortjie again in future.
